Cleveland Browns waive Michael Coats and sign Sam Williams and Noah Igbinoghene

The Cleveland Browns have begun shuffling their 53-man roster as the start of the 2026 NFL season approaches. On September 1, the team waived cornerback Michael Coats Jr., who had initially made the roster despite an ankle injury. In subsequent moves, Cleveland added defensive end Sam Williams and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene to the team. Williams, a 2022 second-round pick, spent his previous seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, while Igbinoghene joins from the Washington Commanders as a veteran option for the secondary. GM Andrew Berry continues to adjust the bottom of the roster to manage depth and injury concerns. Further roster moves are expected throughout the week as the team prepares for its first game of the season.
