Cleveland Cavaliers acquire Peyton Watson from Denver Nuggets in trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to acquire Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets in a multi-team trade. This agreement follows the Cavaliers' unsuccessful efforts to sign LeBron James, who announced his decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Watson, a 23-year-old forward and 2023 NBA champion with the Nuggets, has signed a four-year, $88 million contract with Cleveland. The Cavaliers will send Max Strus to the Los Angeles Clippers and an unprotected first-round draft pick to the Nuggets as part of the deal. Watson, a restricted free agent, averaged 14.6 points per game during the previous regular season, despite missing most of it due to injury.
