Club America and Scarlett Camberos earn first Ballon d'Or award nominations

Club América is the first Liga MX Femenil team to receive a nomination for a Ballon d'Or club honor. The recognition follows the Mexico City squad’s 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup victory and their 2026 Liga MX Clausura title. Alongside the team nomination, club captain Scarlett Camberos has been named to the 30-player shortlist for the individual world player award. This marks the first time a Mexico international has been included in the category since it expanded in 2023. Camberos contributed three assists during the W Champions Cup final against the Washington Spirit. Club América joins FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and OL Lyonnes as the only candidates for the team award, standing as the sole non-European representative.
