CMLL will host a wrestling event at Arena Mexico on September 13, featuring talent from AEW, NJPW, and Stardom. The card includes tag team matches such as Mistico and Mike Bailey against Kevin Knight and Averno, alongside a three-way tag team bout between AEW, Stardom, and CMLL representatives. This event occurs on the same day as AAA Triplemania 34, which is scheduled at Arena CDMX. The Triplemania card features Dominik Mysterio defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano and Flammer defending the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against La Catalina. The proximity of these events creates a busy schedule for the Mexico City wrestling scene during the Mexican Independence Day holiday. There is potential for participating talent to remain in the region for the CMLL 93rd Anniversary event on September 18.

"CMLL continues stacking their biggest show of the year. Two title fights were added to the 93rd Anniversary event. The challengers come from AEW, NJPW, and Stardom. Julio César Rivera revealed on CMLL Informa that Persephone will defend the women’s world title in a four-way against Tessa Blanchard, Mina Shirakawa from AEW, and Starlight Kid from Stardom. The second title bout is for heavyweight gold as Hechicero defends in a three-way against Zack Sabre Jr. from NJPW and Claudio Castagnoli from AEW. ⌛🌎🇲🇽🇬🇧🇨🇭#CMLLInforma || ¡Dos duelos más confirmados para el 93 Aniversario! They’ve been beefing in a manner that points to Blanchard eventually winning the title. With two extra bodies, a title change could take place without Persephone taking the pin, which would also protect the current TBS champion. Likewise, Persephone could retain without pinning Blanchard, and that feud can continue. ¿Estrenando cinturones o k ase? 👀🕷️ Persephone, la Campeona Mundial Femenil del CMLL y la Campeona TBS regresa a la Arena México luego de #AEWAllIn #MartesDeArenaMéxico 📲 https://t.co/5IxvHkBsBW pic.twitter.com/NW3Q7J7wt7 — Lucha Libre CMLL (@CMLL_OFICIAL) September 2, 2026 The heavyweight bout is a clash between the current champion, the former champion, and Sabre too. Hechicero won the title from Claudio. Sabre held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice, so his credentials fit. Not to mention the superior technician skills of all three. Socks are ready to be knocked off. The updated card for the CMLL 93rd Anniversary event includes: Mask vs. Hair Suicide Final: Mistico & Averno vs. Ultimo Guerrero & Templario vs. Barbaro Cavernario & Dragon Rojo Jr. vs. Zandokan Jr. & Star Jr. (Winners advance to final to wrestle each other for mask or hair) Andrade El Idolo vs. Volador Jr. Bandido vs. Soberano Jr. CMLL World Welterweight Championship: Titan (c) vs. Komander CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: Hechicero (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Claudio Castagnoli CMLL Women’s World Championship: Persephone (c) vs. Tessa Blanchard vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Starlight Kid The show takes place on Friday, September 18 from Arena Mexico. Share your thoughts on the card. Which bout tickles your fancy the most? Do you foresee any title changes?
"September will be stacked with lucha libre and wrestling events in Mexico City wrapping around the Mexican Independence Day holiday. With WWE’s AAA holding Triplemania 34 on September 13, CMLL is bringing in talent from AEW, NJPW, and Stardom for their weekly Sunday event. This could be coincidence, or it could be an attempt at counterprogramming for ticket sales and so forth. Whatever the case, don’t that let the truth get in the way of the story of Mexico’s two major lucha libre companies going head-to-head. CMLL announced a handful of matches in Arena Mexico for Sunday, September 13: Mistico & “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Kevin Knight & Averno Hechicero & Esfinge vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Bad Dude Tito Titan & Soberano Jr. vs. Bandido & Komander AEW vs. Stardom vs. CMLL: Megan Bayne & Lena Kross vs. Maika & Starlight Kid vs. Persephone & Olympia ⌛️🌎 📍 Arena México 🗓️ Domingo 13 de Septiembre 2026 🎟️ https://t.co/zntLqO7Mzg 🙏🏻 Místico y “Speedball” Mike Bailey 🥋 🆚 🚀 Kevin Knight y Averno 🔥 🧙🏻Hechicero y Esfinge⚱️ 🆚 🇬🇧 Zack Sabre Jr. y Bad Dude Tito 🇺🇸 👊🏻 Titán y Soberano Jr.🫰🏻 🆚 🤠 Bandido y Komander 🫡 — Lucha Libre CMLL (@CMLL_OFICIAL) August 28, 2026 That should be an exciting show. It leaves me wondering if any of these names will spend the week to wrestle on the CMLL 93rd Anniversary event on Friday, September 18. For comparison, here is the card for AAA Triplemania 34 Night 2 in Arena CDMX as it stands now: AAA Mega Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. El Grande Americano AAA Reina de Reinas Championship: Flammer (c) vs. La Catalina AAA World Cruiserweight Championship: Fenix (c) vs. Mini Vikingo vs. Jack Cartwheel vs. Nathan Frazer Mexican Street Fight: Psycho Clown vs. El Carnicero (date not official, but probably on Night 2) Which show would you choose to attend live?
