Coaches nominate four field hockey players for weekly honors

Coaches have nominated four high school athletes for the inaugural lohud Field Hockey Player of the Week poll, covering games played between September 1 and September 5. The nominees include goalkeepers Sophia Gac of Valhalla/Westlake, Annabelle Pragay of Edgemont, and Kelsey Wong of Croton/Hen Hud, as well as midfielder Caitlyn Mayfield from Somers. Gac recorded 34 saves during a loss to North Salem, while Pragay registered 33 saves against Ossining. Mayfield scored four goals in a victory over Croton/Hen Hud, and Wong stopped 14 shots in a win against Hastings. Online voting for the award remains open until 3 p.m. Thursday. The poll will continue to run throughout the duration of the playoffs.
