"Photo by Paras Griffin/Getty Images | Getty Images How many times have we seen this story play out now? If you can make it to a certain level of stardom in WWE, that seems to be a reliable indicator that Hollywood will come calling eventually. We saw it with Hulk Hogan back in the day and more recently The Rock, Batista, and John Cena. Cody Rhodes may be following suit. He’s received rave reviews for his turn as Guile in Street Fighter, and while doing press for it he revealed to Rich Eisen recently that he has indeed caught the acting bug. However, he claims WWE will remain his day job. We’ve heard this before, though. “Do I have the bug? Hard have the bug. But also, I think it’s probably important to say wrestling is my whole life. You said day job. It is the day job. I don’t think it would ever not be. It’s definitely my plan. Hopefully it goes according to plan. It’s one of those things where if I don’t flex that muscle, if I don’t get reps at it, I’m not going to get any good at this whole thing. Action, that’s a ton of fun, and comedy, that’s an easy place for me to plug into. But because of Dave Batista, John Cena, of course, and The Rock, they’ve made it so that we can walk into a lot of these rooms and they know we have something to offer.” This goes right along with other comments he made recently where he said he plans to retire at the end of his latest WWE contract and the clock is ticking with “Cody fatigue” already setting in. Perhaps taking time away here and there for some movie roles will help with that while building his next career? We shall see.
