Bad news for anyone holding onto a dream about Cody Rhodes’s AEW return so he can… not challenge for the World title, I guess. Not sure how many folks still have that dream though, or if many ever did, honestly. As we’ve seen him working at that company he helped found and WWE during this decade, it’s become more and more clear that Rhodes was meant to be a WWE Superstar™ in a way no one other than John Cena ever has. It’s why, after he signed his current WWE deal in 2024, Cody said he planned to finish his career at WWE. Rhodes knew it would take one more contract. And on his Street Fighter co-star Andrew Schultz’s Flagrant podcast recently, Rhodes revealed that he “just re-signed” with WWE. The time he and Roman Reigns have taken off to film and promote Street Fighter is evidence that it could still be a while before he retires though… “I just re-signed with WWE. So, I’ll end my wrestling career with WWE. “But also, my wrestling career with WWE might continue because … we’re now able to go do this stuff. So say I do have another project or two other projects, whatever it may be. I’m able to take a step away and I’m able to collaborate with WWE and I’m able to come back home.” Rhodes did put a clock on it another recent interview. He told WrestleTalk: “When my daughter is 11 years old, I’m not going to be falling down for a living anymore.” The Rhodes (Runnels, for shoot) family welcomed Liberty in 2021, and Leilani last year. If their dad is talking about big sis, we’re looking 2032. If he means their youngest, it would 2036. Let us know if you believe Cody about his retirement date. And the “ending his career at WWE” part, but I’m more confident that’s gonna happen.
