College coaches rank 2000-01 Duke among best teams of the century

The 2000-01 Duke men's basketball team earned recognition as one of the premier college squads of the current century in a poll of nearly 100 coaches conducted by CBS Sports. That Duke roster, which featured Shane Battier, Jason Williams, and Carlos Boozer, secured 14 percent of the votes. The squad trailed only the 2023-24 UConn team, which received 17 percent of the tally. Duke finished the 2000-01 season with a 35-4 record and captured a national title by defeating Arizona 82-72. Coaches noted the team's balance of veteran leadership and elite talent as primary factors for their high ranking. The following year's Duke roster also received consideration in the poll, despite an exit in the Sweet 16 round of the tournament against Indiana.
