This regulatory stance comes after a Louisiana judge issued a preliminary injunction against the NCAA regarding eligibility rules for former professionals. More than two dozen lawsuits have surfaced regarding the NCAA's decision to grant five seasons of eligibility while excluding athletes who graduated high school in 2022. Amid ongoing legal proceedings, the CFP committee declined to provide further comments on the situation. The committee consists of 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua.
