College scouts gather at Junior Players Championship for prospect recruiting

The Junior Players Championship scheduled for September 4-6 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach serves as a primary recruiting event for college golf coaches. Nearly two dozen coaches are expected to scout the field throughout the tournament rounds. Of the 78 participants in this American Junior Golf Association invitational, 23 have already announced verbal commitments to major college programs. The SEC leads with nine commitments, followed by the Big Ten and ACC with four each, and the Big 12 with three. Notable recruits include Charlie Woods, committed to Florida State, and both Giuseppe Puebla and Jessy Huebner, who have committed to the University of Florida. Other participants have pledged to schools such as Auburn, Georgia, Purdue, and Texas.
