The Los Angeles Lakers added guard Collin Sexton to the roster on a two-year contract this offseason. Tony Jones of The Athletic characterized the signing as a move to provide the team with a backup guard who can initiate offense and penetrate the lane for the second unit. Jones noted that the team lacked a consistent dribbler off the bench behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves last season. While Jones described Sexton as a competitive, high-energy defender, he emphasized that Sexton offers reliable scoring as a primary role for the rotation. Sexton stated in an interview that he feels welcomed by the new coaching staff and teammates.
