Colorado Avalanche prospect Mikhail Gulyayev extends KHL contract with Avangard Omsk

Colorado Avalanche prospect Mikhail Gulyayev has signed a contract extension with the Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. The 21-year-old defenseman remains in Russia for his third season with the club, a move that pushes his potential NHL debut to the 2028-29 campaign. Drafted 31st overall by Colorado in 2023, Gulyayev is currently ranked as the team’s third-best prospect under the age of 25. While scouts praise his elite skating ability, puck-control skills, and defensive gap control, the organization expects him to increase his physical engagement during his continued development in the KHL. Colorado holds exclusive rights to his services and continues to monitor his progress as he navigates his professional career overseas.
