Colorado Rockies promote Cole Carrigg before game against Cubs

The Colorado Rockies have called up top prospect Cole Carrigg ahead of their game against the Chicago Cubs at Coors Field. Carrigg, a 24-year-old outfielder and shortstop, was added to the 40-man roster after impressive performances with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes, where he batted.338 with 42 RBIs and 30 stolen bases this season. To accommodate this move, the Rockies designated pitcher Keegan Thompson for assignment and placed outfielder Tyler Freeman on the 7-day concussion injured list. Carrigg is in tonight’s starting lineup, batting seventh and playing center field.
