Coloradoan names five nominees for Fort Collins-area girls athlete of the week

The Coloradoan and Blue Federal Credit Union have opened voting for the Fort Collins-area girls athlete of the week for the period of August 24 through August 29. Nominees include Audrey Abernathy of Rocky Mountain softball, Piper Fullerton of PSD field hockey, Raeya Garcia of Fossil Ridge volleyball, Sage Raymond of Timnath volleyball, and Elena Sagebiel of Windsor softball. The athletes were selected based on performance metrics such as hitting statistics, defensive plays, and all-around game contributions during the early fall season. Public voting is open at the Coloradoan website starting Monday and runs through 11:59 a.m. on September 3. Staff members will announce the final result on September 4. This program continues through the 2026-27 school year to highlight high school sports participants in the region.
