Commanders sign wide receiver Van Jefferson to practice squad

The Washington Commanders signed veteran wide receiver Van Jefferson to their practice squad on Monday. Jefferson initially joined the team in March but was released during the final roster cuts last week as the team opted to retain seven receivers on the 53-man roster. To make room for the addition, the Commanders released tight end Joshua Simon. Jefferson previously played for the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tennessee Titans. He remains available as a veteran option should the active roster require support due to future injuries. His 2021 campaign with the Rams stands as his most productive season, where he recorded 802 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
