Commanders will honor Sonny Jurgensen and Monte Coleman at home opener

The Washington Commanders plan to honor two franchise legends during halftime of their home opener against the Seattle Seahawks on September 27. The ceremony will pay tribute to Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Sonny Jurgensen and linebacker Monte Coleman. Jurgensen, who played 11 seasons with the team and served as a radio broadcaster, had his No. 9 jersey retired in 2022. Coleman spent 16 seasons in Washington, appearing in 215 games and earning three Super Bowl titles. Both individuals passed away earlier this year. The Commanders begin their regular season with consecutive road games against Philadelphia and Dallas before returning home to host Seattle for this tribute.
