Conemaugh Township moves football game to Saturday due to power outage

The Conemaugh Township varsity football team rescheduled its Week 2 game against West Shamokin to Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. The district initially scheduled the matchup for Friday, Sept. 4, but a lack of power following a severe storm prompted the change. The school building was closed Friday, which had already been designated as a day off on the district calendar. Conemaugh Township enters the game with a 1-0 record, while West Shamokin is 0-1. In a separate storm-related development, Westmont Hilltop moved its matchup against Tyrone to Windber Stadium on Friday. Athletic departments in the region are managing scheduling adjustments as recovery efforts from the recent weather event continue throughout Somerset County.
