Connecticut softball hall of fame announces five inductees for September ceremony

The Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame will hold its 35th annual induction ceremony on Sept. 20 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. The organization honors individuals who have contributed to the advancement of women's fast-pitch softball in the state. The class includes former Masuk pitcher Tatum Buckley, who was twice named Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year, and former UMass Amherst player Sara Plourde Zirkle. Also entering the hall are former Seymour coach Ken Pereiras, who retired in 2024 with 427 career wins, and umpire Ron Vargas. Bill Garfield, a director for the Milford Recreation Department, will be recognized in the honorary category. The program begins at 3 p.m. following a 2 p.m. social hour. Reservations for the event are required in advance.
