Before McGregor was a two-division UFC champion, or Holloway an UFC featherweight champion, the two fighters collided in a featherweight contest at UFC Fight Night 26 at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 17, 2013. In the fight, McGregor rolled to a unanimous decision victory over Holloway, recording 30-27, 30-27, 30-26 scores from the judges that night. It was McGregor’s second UFC fight of his career at the time. Thirteen years later, McGregor and Holloway are headlining one of the biggest cards of the year, and possibly ever, in a welterweight contest. McGregor (22-6) hasn’t fought in the UFC Octagon in five years. He has lost three of his past four fights, including a first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 when the Irishman broke his leg. Holloway (27-9) has lost two of his last three fights in the UFC. In his last outing, Holloway was dominated by Charles Oliveira in the BMF title match at UFC 326 this past March.
