Corbin Burnes completes rehab start for Diamondbacks ahead of potential return

Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes finished a three-inning rehab outing on Thursday against Los Angeles Angels minor leaguers. The pitcher threw between 43 and 44 pitches, followed by additional work in the bullpen to simulate a fourth inning. Burnes reported success in command across his full repertoire of pitches, including his cutter, sinker, curveball, slider, and changeup. He has been sidelined since June 2025 due to Tommy John surgery and a subsequent shoulder injury. While the team has not issued a formal announcement, the plan currently points toward Burnes returning to the major league rotation next week to face the Royals. Burnes is in the second year of a contract signed with the organization in December 2024.
