Corbin Burnes starts for the Diamondbacks against the Royals in Kansas City

The Diamondbacks return to Kauffman Stadium on September 8 to continue their series against the Royals. Right-hander Corbin Burnes makes his return to the major league mound for his season debut after recovering from Tommy John surgery and a subsequent shoulder injury. Manager Torey Lovullo noted that Burnes will be on a pitch limit between 60 and 65 pitches for this start. To bolster the pitching staff, the team also added right-hander Kade Strowd to the roster. Meanwhile, Ryne Nelson is continuing his rehab process at Triple-A Reno and is expected to move into a short-burst relief role upon his return to the major league club. Michael Wacha is the scheduled starter for the Royals as the Diamondbacks look to secure a second consecutive victory in the series.
