Cornell Powell nominated for 2026 UFL Sportsman of the Year Award

Cornell Powell, a former Clemson wide receiver currently with the DC Defenders, has been nominated for the 2026 UFL Sportsman of the Year Award. The nomination recognizes his contributions off the field through his foundation, The Powell Project, which supports youth empowerment and medical research. Powell highlighted the importance of this recognition, particularly as it relates to his efforts in raising breast cancer awareness, driven by personal connections. He finished the regular season with 34 receptions for 491 yards and a touchdown. The award winner will be announced on June 12 during United Bowl week.
