Cowboys backup quarterback competition remains tight ahead of preseason finale

Summary

The competition for the Dallas Cowboys' backup quarterback position continues as the team prepares for its preseason finale on August 30. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer described the battle between Sam Howell and Joe Milton as 'neck and neck', noting Howell has a slight edge. Milton has performed well in both preseason games, while Howell has also made significant plays. The Cowboys ideally want both players to avoid significant game time in the regular season, based on Dak Prescott's injury history and the need for depth at the position.
