Cowboys release Joe Milton, Jaydon Blue, and Phil Mafah after training camp

The Dallas Cowboys finalized their roster cuts following the conclusion of training camp and the preseason. Quarterback Joe Milton, despite throwing for 378 yards and three touchdowns, was released in favor of Sam Howell, who carries more NFL experience. Running backs Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah were also released as the organization opted for other options behind Javonte Williams. The team signed Emari Demercado to the backfield depth chart while naming Malik Davis as the second-string running back. Blue has since joined the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. While the Cowboys expressed interest in bringing Milton back to their practice squad, his status remains as a free agent eligible to sign with any team.
