Craig Counsell keeps Shota Imanaga in Cubs rotation after Sunday loss

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Shota Imanaga will remain in the starting rotation despite a difficult outing in Sunday night’s 7-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Imanaga surrendered six runs on eight hits across five innings, bringing his season record to 8-10 with a 4.01 ERA. The left-hander struggled after three scoreless innings, allowing three home runs as Cincinnati pulled ahead. With roster expansion looming, the team may consider providing Imanaga additional rest before his next scheduled appearance. Despite the series finale defeat, the Cubs previously bested the Reds 17-5 on Saturday. Pete Crow-Armstrong contributed two home runs for Chicago, marking his 38th of the season, while Sal Stewart hit his 31st for Cincinnati. Imanaga is slated to start against the Miami Marlins next Saturday.
