Cristian Chivu previews Inter clash against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu

Inter coach Cristian Chivu faces Real Madrid in the opening match of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League season on Tuesday, September 8. Speaking from a press conference at the renovated Bernabéu stadium, Chivu emphasized his team's commitment to maintaining a competitive philosophy despite the venue's historical difficulty for visiting sides. The coach noted that Inter has not secured a victory at this stadium in 60 years. Chivu declined to compare the current squad to his own 2010 Inter team, stating that each group defines its own era. He highlighted the importance of squad depth and emphasized that player contributions off the bench remain a focus for the campaign. The match follows a condensed schedule, leaving the team with limited recovery time after their recent domestic league appearances.
