Crystal Palace rejects Aston Villa's inquiry for striker Mateta
Summary

Aston Villa approached Crystal Palace to discuss striker Jean-Philippe Mateta this week. Villa is looking to strengthen their attack, especially with Ollie Watkins possibly leaving the club. Mateta, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League last season, is viewed as a cost-effective option. However, sources indicate that Crystal Palace declined Villa's inquiry, though a sale remains possible if Mateta pursues a move. Villa is also considering other attackers, but Mateta's recent form raises concerns about his proficiency in front of goal.
