The Chicago Cubs have traded for left-handed pitcher Braxton Garrett from the Miami Marlins on August 3, 2026. This move follows the acquisition of veteran Kevin Gausman, as the Cubs seek to enhance their starting rotation. Garrett, 28, has been performing well at Triple-A with a 2.90 ERA over 77 2/3 innings this season. He previously struggled in the majors, making just two starts in May for Miami before falling out of the team's rotation. The Cubs aim to provide Garrett a fresh start in the majors after his time in the minors.
