Cubs considering trade for Tarik Skubal ahead of MLB deadline

Summary

The Chicago Cubs are reportedly interested in acquiring pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers before the MLB trade deadline. Cubs president Jed Hoyer, a former colleague of Tigers president Scott Harris, may seek to form an elite starting rotation. While Hoyer has a history of cautious trades, sources indicate that Skubal, who is highly regarded, could be made available. The Cubs may need to part with top prospects and a rehabbing pitcher to secure Skubal, who is also being pursued by teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers.
