Cubs' Justin Steele progresses in rehab from elbow injury

Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele continues his recovery from a left elbow flexor strain. After throwing a bullpen session at Wrigley Field on September 13, he will return to Triple-A Iowa to further his rehab. Steele initially started this assignment on September 2, marking his first affiliated game action in nearly 17 months. In three appearances, he has pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six runs, four earned, and striking out six. Manager Craig Counsell indicated that Steele will require additional game action before a roster decision is made, with expectations of at least one more appearance in Iowa’s upcoming road series against Omaha.
