Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson sidelined for a month with oblique strain

Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain sustained during a recent game against St. Louis. Manager Craig Counsell indicated Swanson is expected to be out for approximately four weeks. In his absence, second baseman Nico Hoerner has shifted to shortstop for the Cubs' upcoming matchup against the White Sox. Swanson is currently batting.216 with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs this season. The Cubs also made additional roster moves, placing right-hander Edward Cabrera on the injured list and recalling Kevin Alcantara and Javier Assad from Triple-A Iowa.
