Cuckney cricket team wins the Village Cup at Lord's

The Cuckney cricket club secured the Village Cup title at Lord's on Sunday after defeating Blackheath by five wickets. Blackheath batted first and managed 186 all out, anchored by a 48-run performance from captain Peter Melhuish. Jake Tong led the Cuckney bowling effort by taking four wickets. Cuckney reached the target in the 37th over behind a 62-run innings from opener William Ullyott. This victory follows the club's 2023 National Cup success at the same venue, making Cuckney the first team to win both titles. The team returned to north Nottinghamshire on Monday to a public reception.
