Current and former NBA players weigh in on the greatest of all time

Recent data compiled from 112 current and former NBA players over the last four years shows a split preference regarding the league's greatest player. LeBron James received 49 votes, while Michael Jordan earned 46. A generational divide exists within the results, as active players largely favor James, whereas retired players show a preference for Jordan. Players born in the 1960s and 1970s predominantly selected Jordan, while those born in the 2000s lean toward James. The data also highlights varying perspectives among former teammates, noting that some of James’ former colleagues identified Jordan as their personal choice for the greatest. The survey results underscore the subjective nature of the long-standing debate among professionals who have competed in the league.
