D-Backs consider Willson Contreras as trade deadline target from Red Sox

Summary

The Arizona Diamondbacks may target Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras as they approach the trade deadline. Experts suggest upgrading first base is crucial for Arizona's offense, as current players Ildemaro Vargas and Pavin Smith have underperformed. Vargas has a.261 average with seven home runs, while Smith has struggled, batting just.157. Contreras, in contrast, is hitting.284 with 20 home runs and 59 RBIs this season, potentially providing a much-needed power boost to the Diamondbacks' lineup. The decision to pursue him will hinge on the asking price from Boston and the Diamondbacks' position as buyers at the deadline.
