Dakota Kai reveals original Damage CTRL concept included different members

Dakota Kai discussed the inception of the Damage CTRL faction in a recent interview, stating that an earlier idea for the group featured Kay Lee Ray and Raquel Rodriguez. Kai confirmed that the concept was initially pitched one year before Damage CTRL's official formation at SummerSlam 2022 alongside Bayley and IYO SKY. She revealed that she received only 24 hours’ notice before joining the faction at SummerSlam, despite not being under contract at the time. Kai recently returned to the independent wrestling circuit after her release from WWE in May 2025.
