Dalano Banton signs with Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin in China

Former Boston Celtics guard Dalano Banton has signed a contract to play for the Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin in the Chinese Basketball Association. The move follows his release from the Celtics in July 2026, which left him as an unrestricted free agent. Banton, the 46th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, previously spent time with the Toronto Raptors, LA Clippers, and Portland Trail Blazers before joining Boston. His tenure with the Celtics included 28 total games over two seasons, during which he averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds. Before choosing the Chinese league, Banton had reportedly garnered interest from several EuroLeague organizations, including Olympiacos. The transition marks a shift to overseas competition after he spent the 2025-26 campaign splitting time between the NBA and the G League.
