Dalilah Muhammad announces retirement before World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest

Olympic gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad confirmed that the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest will be the final meet of her professional track career. The 36-year-old hurdler, who previously held the 400m hurdles world record, joins elite athletes for the three-day competition starting September 11. Muhammad enters the event with a season-best time of 53.16 seconds, currently ranking fifth globally. The inaugural championship features a $10 million prize pool, offering $150,000 to winners of individual events. Her career includes an Olympic gold medal from 2016 and a world title in 2019. The competition schedule includes 400m hurdles semifinals on Saturday followed by the final on Sunday.
