Dallas Cowboys release offensive lineman Shiyazh Pete

The Dallas Cowboys have released offensive lineman Shiyazh Pete, who became the first Navajo player to sign with an NFL team. Pete, a 6-foot-8, 322-pound undrafted free agent, signed a three-year deal earlier this year after stints at New Mexico State and Kentucky. He competed as a third-stringer throughout the 2026 preseason, participating in all three of the team's exhibition games. The organization previously highlighted Pete's background during training camp and utilized him for a locker room speech before the preseason matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Despite the release, the lineman could remain with the franchise if he clears waivers and secures a spot on the practice squad.
