Dallas Cowboys released Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah after 2025 draft

The Dallas Cowboys released running backs Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah during roster cuts ahead of the season. Selected in the 2025 NFL draft as the No. 149 and No. 239 overall picks, respectively, neither player secured a position on the team's initial 53-man roster. While the Cowboys focused on prospects with high physical ceilings, other late-round selections across the league outperformed them. Kyle Monangai, chosen by the Chicago Bears with the No. 233 overall pick, recorded 783 rushing yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. Additionally, the Washington Commanders selected Jacory Croskey Merritt at No. 245, who finished his debut season with 805 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Blue and Mafah were not signed to the Dallas practice squad following their release.
