Dallas Cowboys waive running back Jaydon Blue before final roster deadline

The Dallas Cowboys waived second-year running back Jaydon Blue on August 30, 2026, ahead of the team's 53-man roster deadline. Blue, a fifth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, was previously designated as the primary backup to Javonte Williams on the unofficial depth chart. Despite logging 94 rushing yards on 23 carries during the preseason, the 22-year-old was left off the active roster. Other running backs Phil Mafah and Blue were both waived, clearing a path for Malik Davis to potentially serve as the backup to Williams. The Cowboys currently hold Israel Abanikanda and Jashaun Corbin on the roster as they work toward the 6 p.m. ET deadline. If Blue clears waivers, the organization may attempt to sign him to the practice squad.
