Dallas Mavericks consider trading Daniel Gafford to reduce roster age

The Dallas Mavericks are evaluating roster adjustments as the organization shifts its focus toward a younger team structure. Although guard Kyrie Irving has drawn external trade interest, the Mavericks have reportedly resisted such overtures since June. Reports indicate that center Daniel Gafford has emerged as a primary trade candidate for the team. Gafford, who turns 28 in October, is currently signed through 2029 under a three-year, $54 million contract. Dallas is reportedly seeking a protected first-round pick in exchange for the veteran rim runner. Should the team elect to move him, the Mavericks would rely on a big rotation consisting of Dereck Lively II, Morez Johnson Jr., and Moussa Cissé.
