Dan Campbell plans committee approach for Lions running backs

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed Monday that the team will employ a committee of running backs to support Jahmyr Gibbs while Isiah Pacheco remains on injured reserve. Although Jacob Saylors impressed during the preseason with a 100-yard performance against the Indianapolis Colts, Campbell stated that Sione Vaki will also receive significant carries. Vaki previously missed time in training camp due to a broken nose and back spasms but has since returned to practice. Campbell emphasized that both players are expected to contribute to the rushing attack, pass protection, and special teams units. The coaching staff plans to evaluate the rotation as the Lions look to manage the backfield until Pacheco is cleared to return to the roster.
