Dan Campbell supports Jake Bates after missed extra points in preseason win

Summary

Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates missed two extra points during a 25-16 preseason victory against the Indianapolis Colts on August 29. Coach Dan Campbell stated he remains unconcerned about Bates' performance, emphasizing that the kicker will be fine despite earlier inconsistencies this preseason. Bates also missed a 55-yard field goal in a previous win. His struggles follow a rookie season where he successfully completed 54 of 56 extra point attempts, but his field goal accuracy declined last season. Campbell's comments suggest confidence in Bates' ability to rebound as the regular season approaches.
