Dan Lanning comments on the Protect College Sports Act

Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning addressed the Protect College Sports Act on August 3 during UO's annual media day. He stated that he prefers to leave decision-making on such matters to lawmakers, saying, 'Not really my lane.' The bill aims to create stability in college athletics and establish a federal framework for student-athlete compensation and NIL. While both the SEC and Big Ten support the bill, Lanning reflected on the challenges of constantly changing rules in college football, noting, 'You can’t ever put the toothpaste back in the tube.' He expressed the need for teams to adapt to ongoing changes in the sport.
