According to multiple reports, Mayweather is suing a former investment manager that defrauded him out of $175 million. Per an ESPN report, the 50-0 former world champion boxer filed suit in a New York court for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. Following Zuffa Boxing 8, White was asked about Mayweather’s reported situation. “That’s a tough one,” White said at the Zuffa Boxing 8 post-fight press conference on Sunday. “I’ve talked to him about it, but I don’t know enough about it. You hear all of these different stories. I think you have to wait to see how this thing’s going to play out in court for him.” White has worked with Mayweather in the past, co-promoting Mayweather’s blockbuster fight with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor in 2017 — which Mayweather won via 10th round TKO. The win over McGregor served as the final pro bout of his career, although “Money” has competed in several exhibition bouts, including a no-decision against current WWE star Logan Paul in June 2021. According to White, Mayweather’s tale is potentially one of many sad financial cases of high-level athletes over the years, but at the end of his answer, White — with a bit of a smirk on his face — teased something that could seemingly help Mayweather in this situation. “When somebody works as hard as he did and amasses the type of wealth the type of wealth that he had and they lose it, or it gets stolen, or whatever the deal is, it’s horrible,” White explained. “And it happens a lot in professional sports. “So who knows? Anything is possible. Maybe we could do something and figure it out for him.”
