Dana White indicates Alexander Volkanovski may chase lightweight title

At the UFC 333 Post-Fight Press Conference on October 27, 2026, UFC CEO Dana White expressed openness to featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski moving up to challenge Justin Gaethje for the lightweight title. Volkanovski recently defended his featherweight title against Movsar Evloev, winning by second-round TKO, and has previously fought for the lightweight championship twice, losing both bouts to Islam Makhachev. Volkanovski hinted that he would consider retirement if given the opportunity to fight for the lightweight title. White acknowledged Volkanovski's accomplishments, stating there would be little the UFC would turn down regarding his career decisions.
