Dana White questions contract negotiations for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua bout

Two of the greatest heavyweights of their generation, Fury and Joshua were finally supposed to meet inside the ring in a long-awaited superfight at the end of this year. However, the past several weeks have thrown that into question as the two sides publicly feud over the contract details, specifically, a change of venue from Wembley Arena in London to Madison Square Garden in New York City. On top of that, there’s also the brewing feud between Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, and UFC CEO Dana White, who is looking to promote the fight. This past weekend, Hearn spoke about the ongoing issues with getting the fight locked down, blaming White and TKO’s involvement for messing the whole thing up. In response, Fury came out with a message of support for White, called Joshua a coward, and then called for a fight with Oleksandr Usyk instead, seemingly moving on from the superfight. And on Tuesday night, following the latest episode of Contender Series, White reacted to the recent drama, seemingly joining Fury in giving up on the bout. “My update would be: Tyson, thank you for all the kind words,” White said. “I mean, guys, you don’t have to be f*cking rocket scientists to see what’s going on here. And I’ve been saying the same thing since Bournemouth. Since we had the fight in Bournemouth, I’ve been saying the same thing. If you can’t f*cking see through this, then you know — Yeah. Yeah.” As of now, the Fury-Joshua fight appears to be stuck in limbo, though there’s still time for the two sides to reach an agreement for the planned bout to take place before the end of the year.
