The Ring now reports a “working date” of October 17th at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, which hosted their first meeting back in May. It’s a remarkably quick turnaround after one of the more grueling wars in recent memory. Wardley (20-1-1, 19 KO), no stranger to throwback donnybrooks, sat Dubois (23-3, 22 KO) down twice in the opening rounds before “Dynamite” roared back to unleash a hellacious beating, culminating in an 11th-round stoppage despite Wardley somehow never hitting the mat. Is was the sort of “defense is a conspiracy by Big Glove to sell more boxing lessons” slugfest that could easily shorten both participants’ careers by a significant span, but Wardley swiftly activated his rematch clause regardless. Let’s hope it’s more Marquez-Vazquez 2/3 than Marquez-Vazquez 4.
