Daniels objects to LSU allowing Pickett to wear his No. 5 jersey

The fallout over LSU’s decision to hand out Jayden Daniels’ old No. 5 jersey just picked up another loud voice, and this one isn’t taking the Washington Commanders quarterback’s side.

Jayden Daniels has hit back against LSU after admitting he feels ‘profoundly disrespected’ by his former college. At the heart of the frustrations is LSU’s decision to allow cornerback DJ Pickett to wear Daniels’ number five jersey after he became their third-ever Heisman winner.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels informed LSU it can no longer use his name, image and likeness and said he felt "profoundly disrespected" after LSU allowed cornerback DJ Pickett to wear his former No. 5 jersey.

A representative for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has told LSU it can no longer use the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner’s name, image and likeness. ESPN got a copy of the letter that was sent to LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry and said Daniels’ decision stems from the school’s decision to allow cornerback D.J. Pickett to wear a No. 5 jersey. This would mark the first time an LSU player has worn No. 5 since Daniels’ departure, though the school hadn’t retired the jersey.
