(Photo by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty Images When Mick Foley was asked recently about having one more match now that he’s signed to AEW, he mentioned being on record that Darby Allin “would be a dream opponent.” That match is not going to happen, though, because the man himself is not on board with it. That’s what he told The Takedown in a recent interview: “I would never wrestle Mick. I would never wrestle against Mick. Would I team with him? Absolutely. I would team with him in a heartbeat. Just like I would never wrestle Sting. I would love to team with him. But that’s the thing for Mick to answer. What does he feel in his career that, if he would even need that, if there’s any questions unanswered?” But why? “I don’t feel like I’d get out of it what we want, I feel like there’s a lot more meat on the bone with me teaming with him. I just don’t think I’d get out of it what I would think I would.I wouldn’t want to go out there and have that with somebody like Mick that a lot of people are saying he doesn’t need to be in the ring. If he’s gonna be in the ring, I wanna do everything to help him, like, by his side. It’s just not something that interests me.” Allin was indeed right there to make Sting’s wrestling life much easier as he wrapped up his career under the AEW banner. He could very well do the same for Foley, though the Hardcore Legend probably shouldn’t be having any more matches in what is already a Hall of Fame career under any standard. But if he does, we know at least one wrestler he won’t be squaring up against.
